Long time since I posted on here. Maybe you have noticed it - maybe you haven’t. Maybe you were relieved to not get any spam from me. Well, either way, here I am again. The reason why I have been absent is… work.
I have a website!
I invested a lot of time in building my website, which has been up and running since the beginning of the year. Big shoutout to Helen Woltering and Claudia Koerner for supporting me in bringing my ideas to life and adding some more!
Knowing what I don’t like by doing it
I spent quite some time with pitching my coaching service to people on LinkedIn. Honestly, not my favourite todo. It did help me to learn more about myself and what type of networking is or isn’t for me. I’m definitely more of an “in-person networking event” type.
If you have recommendations for good networking events or meetups with a focus on data or freelancers in Berlin, Leipzig or Hamburg, then please send them to me!
Stepping outside of my box for new inspiration
One of my favourite reasons for not writing here: comedy! I attended 3 different types of comedy courses: improv, standup and sketch writing. I was curious if comedy offers different and interesting techniques that I could use for public speaking. What I got was even better: techniques for creative writing and storytelling! The whole time I was sitting in those courses thinking “More people should know about this! Data presentations would be SO much more interesting!” Of course I incorporated those techniques into my data storytelling coaching. And I will provide some insights in future blog posts.
Practicing what I preach
Lastly, I have started giving online trainings for aspiring data professionals via an online school. Preparing the sessions for the first time takes quite some time. It’s also a great opportunity to practice my storytelling skills in order to make mathematics and data easier to understand and more fun.
Curious about data storytelling techniques?
As you can see, my plate was and is quite full at the moment. What does that mean for this blog? I will start posting again more regularly. I will focus more on specific data storytelling techniques and advice on learning and collaboration within the data field.
I hope you’ll stick around for my future posts.
Hi, I'm Nadine - mathematician, former teamlead of data analytics and data science teams, and a craftsperson of data stories. If you wish to become one yourself and easily engage and convince your audiences instead of bore them with numbers and charts, then let’s talk!
